The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Justice, with reference to the estimate by HMPPS that it would cost £2.8 billion to bring the prison estate into a fair condition, if he will provide a breakdown of the estimated costs per prison to do so.

Answered by Jake Richards

We intend to publish an update to the data published in December 2024 on the condition of the prison estate in England and Wales: Prison Estate Conditions Survey Programme Summary Information - GOV.UK. We plan to do this before the end of the year.
