Civil Service: Unpaid Work

Asked by Mike WoodConservativeCabinet OfficeTabled Answered 18 June 2026UIN 6426

The question

To ask the Minister for the Cabinet Office, whether applicants for Civil Service internship schemes restricted to ethnic minorities are required to self-certify their ethnicity.

Answered by Satvir Kaur

The centrally run Civil Service Summer Internship Programme does not limit eligibility based on ethnicity. The Cabinet Office does not hold central data on all internships across the Civil Service. Where departments run their own schemes it is for them to set the criteria and evidence requirements.
