Railways: Marketing and Sponsorship

Asked by Andrew RosindellReform UKDepartment for TransportTabled Answered 22 June 2026UIN 6338

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what budgetary guidance is provided to nationalised passenger train operators concerning their marketing, advertising and sponsorship spending arrangements.

Answered by Keir Mather

The guidance to publicly owned train companies is the same as to the companies operating under National Rail Contracts. All passenger train operators are expected to act in a commercial and agile manner in encouraging more people to catch the train, including through a variety of marketing approaches.
