Primary Education: Physical Education and Sports

Asked by Damian HindsConservativeDepartment for EducationTabled Answered 15 June 2026UIN 6735

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Education, what estimate she has made of (a) total and (b) per pupil funding from her Department to primary schools earmarked for PE and sport (i) in AY2024/5 (ii) in AY2025/6 and (iii) projected for AY2026/7.

Answered by Georgia Gould

The department is increasing investment in PE and school sport, having announced over £1 billion investment over the next three years. This will fund new PE and Sports Partnerships, capital investment in facilities and specific programmes supporting inclusive PE and sports for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities. This builds on the previous PE and Sports Premium, which had a cash value of £320 million from 2017/18 to 2025/26.
