Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs: Equality
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, what assessment she has made of the potential implications for her policies of the Global Justice Report by the World Inequality Lab.
Answered by Mary Creagh
The Department is aware of this report. Defra is focusing on protecting and restoring nature at home and overseas, recognising that healthy natural systems underpin growth, food security and resilience.
Internationally, we are scaling up investment in nature through mobilising private finance and high‑integrity nature markets. Through Official Development Assistance, we support developing countries to protect nature and build resilience.
The UK continues to play a leading role in delivering the UN biodiversity framework, including at London Climate Action Week, mobilising international partnerships and finance for nature.
