A47: Dual Carriageways
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what was the cost to the public purse of the A47 Wansford to Sutton dualling scheme since 1 January 2020; and how much of that expenditure is now expected to be written off following the cancellation of the scheme.
Answered by Simon Lightwood
National Highways will confirm the total spend to end of March 2026 in its Annual Report and Accounts due to be published in July 2026. The scheme has been in development for many years, and the costs will include all the initial designs, environmental assessments, consultations, ground investigations and site surveys, archaeological investigations and some utility preparation work, as well as costs to close the project down.
