Collective Responsibility

Asked by Mike WoodConservativeCabinet OfficeTabled Answered 15 June 2026UIN 7168

The question

To ask the Minister for the Cabinet Office, with reference to the answer of 22 April 2026 to Question 125406 on Collective Responsibility, what the changes are to the process for collective agreement of government policy, including for the Economic Domestic Secretariat.

Answered by Nick Thomas-Symonds

The Cabinet Office has launched a programme of work to simplify the state, removing unnecessary bureaucracy and speeding up the timeline from ministerial decision to delivery for citizens, including through the process for collective agreement of government policy. We are ensuring that the right rules are in place, so that the system is proportionate and enables robust decision-making.
