Asked by Rupert LoweRestore BritainHome OfficeTabled Answered 23 June 2026UIN 7225

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, how many civil servants comprise the asylum group and what estimate she has made of their total annual salary cost.

Answered by Alex Norris

Workforce numbers within Asylum Group are not fixed and fluctuate in line with operational demand, including the use of contingent labour. As of 31st May 2026, Asylum Group total headcount was 10,942.

Asylum Group budget information will be published in future Home Office accounts for 2026/27. At this stage in the financial year, salary data sets are unaudited and subject to change.
