Natural Gas: Boilers

Asked by Mr Andrew SnowdenConservativeDepartment for Energy Security and Net ZeroTabled Answered 15 June 2026UIN 7304

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, what estimate he has made of the number of households that will be required to replace a gas boiler before the end of its natural lifespan in order to meet Carbon Budget 7.

Answered by Katie White

We have been clear on several occasions that we will not force anyone to rip out a working boiler to deliver our carbon budgets, including in the Warm Homes Plan that we published earlier this year. Instead, this Government is focused on incentivising moves to cleaner, affordable heating and making this attractive and easy for the public.   Our Warm Homes Plan supports investment in heat pumps and other energy efficiency upgrades to help cut bills.
