To ask the Secretary of State for Science, Innovation and Technology, what assessment he has made of the effectiveness of existing takedown procedures in preventing the re-uploading of non-consensual intimate images.

The Government is determined to tackle non-consensual intimate image abuse. As priority illegal content under the Online Safety Act, services must assess the risk of NCII on their platforms, ensure swift removal and take proportionate steps to prevent re-uploads, backed by Ofcom’s strong enforcement powers.
This government strengthened these measures through the Crime and Policing Act by introducing a duty on platforms to remove NCII within 48 hours of a valid report.
Ofcom has also published updated illegal content codes on the use of a digital fingerprint of known abusive images so platforms can automatically detect and block re‑uploads, preventing repeat harm.
