Freedom of Information: Reform
The question
To ask the Minister for the Cabinet Office, whether representatives of (a) his Department and (b) Downing Street have briefed the Financial Times on reforming the Freedom of Information Act.
Answered by Mr James Frith
It would not be appropriate to comment on speculation, though I would note that this statement neither confirms nor denies the legitimacy of the source comment quoted by the Financial Times. The government has strengthened many transparency and disclosure standards — providing openness to the public while applying clear safeguards where sensitive or security-related information is concerned.
