Department for Culture, Media and Sport: Lanyards

Asked by Mr Richard HoldenConservativeDepartment for Culture, Media and SportTabled Answered 19 June 2026UIN 7484

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, how much (a) her Department, (b) its agencies and (c) its public bodies has spent on lanyards since 4 July 2024; what designs of lanyards have been purchased; and what the cost and number of each lanyard design purchased was.

Answered by Ian Murray

The Department for Culture, Media and Sport has spent £1087.45 on 3107 lanyards for Remembrance Sunday since July 2024. These were plain and did not carry any design. The lanyards were used as part of the delivery of the annual national Remembrance Sunday commemorations, helping to identify volunteers, authorised personnel and manage access within the secure event footprint. The Department also spent £2,970 on 1500 lanyards for VE Day 80 in 2025 to support the safe and secure delivery of the commemorations. These carried the government’s VE 80 branding. The Department’s communications team spent £687.10 on 900 lanyards since July 2024. These were plain and did not carry any design. Information relating to the Department's agencies and public bodies is not held centrally and could only be obtained at disproportionate cost.
