East Midlands Railway: Rolling Stock

Asked by Neil O'BrienConservativeDepartment for TransportTabled Answered 16 June 2026UIN 7534

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what assessment she has made of the adequacy of rolling stock on the East Midlands Railway.

Answered by Keir Mather

East Midlands Railway (EMR) is currently overseen by Department for Transport Operator Ltd. (DfTO), prior to its transfer into public ownership. DfTO officials meet regularly with EMR to discuss significant planned improvements to its existing fleet, including the phased introduction of the new Intercity Class 810 bi-mode Aurora trains, the cascade out of its existing Intercity Class 222s and the ongoing refurbishment of EMR’s Regional Class 170s and Class 158s and Connect Class 360 trains.
