Public Order and Hate Crime Legislation Review

Asked by Sir James CleverlyConservativeHome OfficeTabled Answered 17 June 2026UIN 7463

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, with reference to the answer of 13 April 2026 to Question 119311 on Public Order and Hate Crime Legislation Review, whether the Government’s non-engagement principles apply to independent government-commissioned reviews.

Answered by Sarah Jones

The government's engagement principles apply to Ministerial bodies.

As set out in ‘Protecting What Matters’, published 9th March 2026, we will be updating and embedding the engagement principles across government.

We will support due diligence capabilities to ensure we can take evidence-based decisions about engagement which are in line with the updated principles.
