Internet: Children
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Science, Innovation and Technology, what discussions she has had with under 16s on online safety.
Answered by Kanishka Narayan
The Secretary of State has engaged extensively with children and young people as part of the Government’s Growing up in the Online World consultation and National Conversation.
This has included speaking with students aged at Hammersmith Academy, Richmond Park Academy, All Saints Catholic College and hearing from young people at the Darlington Online Safety Forum about their experiences of social media, harmful content and what changes would make them safer online.
This is in addition to over 100 other national conversation events across the UK attended by DSIT ministers and officials. These views have been integral to informing the Government’s consideration of the next steps.
