Aviation: UK Relations with EU
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, whether a) the certification of aircraft parts and maintenance approvals and b) maintenance engineer licences are a priority outcome for the UK ahead of the upcoming UK-EU summit.
Answered by Keir Mather
The Government has reset our relations with European partners in order to improve our economic and security cooperation following Brexit. We are committed to a constructive, and forward-looking relationship with the EU on aviation safety, including seeking closer cooperation with the EU on the certification of aircraft parts, maintenance approvals and licencing, where possible.
The Government continues to work constructively to identify opportunities for pragmatic improvements in these areas, including through the UK-EU Specialised Committees.
