Legal Ombudsman: Standards
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Justice, whether his Department has plans to review the operation and effectiveness of the Legal Ombudsman, including the timeliness within which complaints are handled.
Answered by Sarah Sackman
The Office for Legal Complaints (OLC), which administers the Legal Ombudsman (LeO) scheme, is undertaking a review and transformation programme to ensure the scheme can respond effectively to increasing demand for its services. This programme builds on its existing work to improve efficiency, digital capability and service delivery. The Ministry of Justice has no current plans to undertake a separate review of the Legal Ombudsman scheme but will monitor the outcomes of the OLC's programme during its next strategic planning period (2027–30).
