To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, what steps she is taking to improve access to funding for community-based charities.

The Department for Culture, Media and Sport has taken several steps to increase the flow of funding and goods into the sector. This includes the introduction of VAT relief for businesses donating goods to charities from 1 April 2026, which will help more goods reach the people that need it the most, as well as updating financial thresholds in charity law, which will save charities £47 million each year.
It also includes the expansion of the Dormant Assets Scheme to unlock £440 million of social investment into the sector, including £87.5 million of funding allocated towards community wealth funds. The £500 million Better Futures Fund, which brings together government, charities, local communities, and philanthropists to finance Social Outcomes Partnerships, will also support 200,000 young people and families through innovative impact funding over the next decade.
