Euro 2028
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, what assessment she has made of the potential impact of UEFA EURO 2028 on constituencies like Fylde without participating stadiums.
Answered by Stephanie Peacock
Football reaches communities like nothing else, and this government is determined to ensure that the benefits of hosting EURO 2028 are felt well beyond the host cities. Following an updated and upgraded independent assessment, UEFA EURO 2028 is now predicted to deliver £3.2 billion of socio-economic benefits across the UK - creating jobs, driving regional growth, and bringing a surge of international visitors whose spending will boost local economies.
Additionally, EURO 2028 will feature the largest-ever Community Programme to be delivered for a UEFA EURO. These plans will ensure UEFA EURO 2028 is celebrated in hundreds of communities like Fylde, placing the spotlight on football inclusivity, volunteers and community heroes.
