To ask the Secretary of State for Science, Innovation and Technology, how much (a) her Department, (b) its agencies and (c) its public bodies has spent on lanyards since 4 July 2024; what designs of lanyards have been purchased; and what the cost and number of each lanyard design purchased was.

In 2024, the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology spent £3,972+VAT on 5,000 lanyards for its staff. These lanyards were of one design, containing the words Science, Innovation and Technology. In 2025, 100 lanyards were purchased for members of staff working in the Government Digital Service, at a cost of £259+VAT. This lanyard’s design included the words “Made by the Government” on one side, and “Government Digital Service” on the other. In 2025, 150 lanyards were also purchased for the Government Office for Technology Transfer, at a cost of £456+VAT. In 2026, a further number of lanyards were printed for the Government Office for Technology Transfer at a cost of £155+VAT. Operational purchase decisions are delegated to relevant officials.
The department does not hold information centrally on the purchase of lanyards by its agencies and public bodies.
