Orrell Station: Access

Asked by Mr Richard HoldenConservativeDepartment for TransportTabled Answered 15 June 2026UIN 8100

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what plans her Department has to upgrade Orrell railway station to provide step-free access; and if she will consider allocating funding for that station under the next round of the Access for All programme.

Answered by Keir Mather

In 2022 the previous Government received 310 nominations for step-free station upgrades as part of the Access for All programme. Future funding will be considered as part of the next Spending Review, which may provide an opportunity for stations such as Orrell. The process and timings for future rounds have not yet been decided, though the programme will be reformed as part of the transition to Great British Railways.
