Cabinet Office: Remote Working
The question
To ask the Minister for the Cabinet Office, whether his Department permits civil servants employed in the UK to work from overseas on a regular basis.
Answered by Satvir Kaur
The Cabinet Office does not permit civil servants employed in the United Kingdom to work from overseas on a regular basis. Staff operate internationally to undertake official business travel. Temporary requests to work abroad are subject to strict regulations and are approved only in exceptional circumstances. These include carrying equipment for business continuity whilst on annual leave, a close family bereavement or accompanying a spouse or partner who has been officially posted overseas by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office or the Armed Forces.
