The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, what representations his Department has received on amending the legislation on the declaration of donations or gifts by regulated donees who are not elected representatives.

Answered by Samantha Dixon

On the 17 July 2025 the Government published its strategy for modern and secure elections and committed to commencing section 54A of the Political Parties, Elections and Referendums Act 2000, as inserted by section 9 of the Political Parties and Elections Act 2009, which applies to regulated donees.

The Government continues to engage with and receive representations from stakeholders across the electoral sector, including the Electoral Commission and political parties on the implementation of this strategy.
