Polling Stations: Pilot Schemes
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, whether his Department plans to pilot mobile polling stations in the May 2027 local elections.
Answered by Samantha Dixon
The Government is committed to encouraging greater participation in democracy and is exploring ways to make voting in person more efficient, more convenient, and better aligned with the expectations of today’s electors.
We are currently considering options for future electoral pilots, including potential flexible voting approaches, as part of this wider work. Discussions are ongoing, and we will set out further details in due course.
