Armed Forces: Recruitment
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, when the Armed Forces Recruitment Service contract will conclude.
Answered by Louise Sandher-Jones
The Armed Forces Recruiting Service (AFRS) continues to progress as scheduled and remains committed to delivery from January 2027.
Following a transition period that will conclude on 31 March 2027, the AFRS contract initial terms are seven years from 1 Apr 27 with the option of continuing the Service for a further three, 12-month extension periods. Consequently, the contract can conclude on either 31 March 2035, 31 March 2036 or 31 March 2037, totalling a 10-year contract duration period.
There is no fixed timetable for future procurement activity. The Department will continue to monitor the performance of the AFRS and will use the full range of contractual flexibilities available to ensure recruiting delivery remains effective, responsive and provides value for money.
