To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what the total expenditure of the British Transport Police was in the latest year for which figures are available; how many warranted police officers were employed by the force in that year; and what estimate she has made of the average annual cost to the public purse of employing one warranted British Transport Police officer, including salary, pension, training and overhead costs.

For the year 2024/25, British Transport Police's (BTP) expenditure was £415,366,000, employing an average of 3,110 warranted police officers.
The average annual cost of employing one BTP Police Constable for the same financial year was £57,047.82; this cost includes officer salary and employer pension and National Insurance contributions, however this does not include additional costs such as training, uniform, allowances and other overheads. These additional costs cannot be calculated by British Transport Police (BTP) in the timeframe for response.
