The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, what measures are in place to ensure that communities in areas not receiving cricket dome funding benefit from the wider £400 million sports facilities programme.

The five new, all-weather cricket domes’ locations were chosen based on a range of factors relating to indices of deprivation and local sporting infrastructure need. These areas have some of the highest levels of deprivation and inactivity, which have reduced opportunities for local people.
On top of this, £85 million is being delivered this year through the Multi-Sport Grassroots Facilities Programme, with 50% of investment going to the 30% most deprived areas in the UK to support increased participation levels across the country. Successful Multi-Sport Grassroots Facilities Programme projects will be added to the list at gov.uk periodically.
In addition, the Government previously announced £5 million will be invested in basketball and basketball-led multisport facilities this year, as well as at least £2.5 million to deliver covered courts for tennis, padel and other activities. The locations of these investments will be announced in due course.
We are collaborating with the sports sector and local leaders to develop plans beyond 2026/27 for a range of sports across the country based on what each community needs.
