Youth Services: Finance

Asked by Laura Kyrke-SmithLabourDepartment for Culture, Media and SportTabled Answered 16 June 2026UIN 8460

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, what steps her Department is taking to prepare for the launch of applications to the next phase of the Better Youth Spaces Fund, and when those applications are expected to open.

Answered by Stephanie Peacock

We have been focused on how we can streamline our departmental funding to ensure young people are shaping our priorities and decisions. With this in mind, we are currently merging our major youth funds which includes Better Youth Spaces and Richer Young Lives.

Our vision is to establish a much more straightforward funding system, focusing on providing opportunities to young people when and where they need them, and ensuring we remain responsive to the views front line delivery organisations and young people have shared. Further details on when it will open to applicants, along with guidance on the application process and eligibility criteria, will be announced later in the year.
