The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, whether it remains her target to have 300,000 public charge points by 2030.

The 2022 Taking Charge: the National Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Strategy estimated demand for 280,000–720,000 charge points by 2030. This has often been simplified to around 300,000 charge points, but this remains an estimate of demand, not a Government target.
The estimate was updated in 2024 to 250,000–550,000 charge points by 2030. These figures represent projected demand for EV chargers, rather than charging devices.
Public charging infrastructure continues to grow rapidly. As of 1 June 2026, Government and industry had supported the installation of 121,262 public chargers.
