The question
To ask the Minister for the Cabinet Office, with reference to the written statement of 2 June 2026, HCWS78, on Cabinet Manual, whether it will provide additional guidance on how Cabinet Secretaries are appointed.

The Cabinet Manual update will ensure that it reflects the main “laws, conventions and rules that affect the operation and procedures of the Government”. Updates will be needed to reflect changes and developments since its publication in 2011.
We will seek feedback from parliamentary committees on the draft text later this year.
