Freedom of Information

Asked by Alex BurghartConservativeCabinet OfficeTabled Answered 17 June 2026UIN 8631

The question

To ask the Minister for the Cabinet Office, whether he plans to amend (a) secondary legislation introduced under the Freedom of Information Act and (b) guidance on the Freedom of Information regime.

Answered by Chris Ward

The Government is committed to Freedom of Information (“FOI”) and continues to monitor the performance and implementation of the FOI Act to ensure it is operating as intended by Parliament.

There are no current plans to amend secondary legislation or guidance related to the FOI Act. Any changes to FOI legislation would be subject to Parliamentary scrutiny.
