The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, what assessment he has made of the impact on a) Royal Navy and b) the Royal Fleet Auxiliary of the agreement of the new international Maritime Autonomous Surface Ships Code.

The Ministry of Defence continues to monitor the development of the International Maritime Organisation’s Maritime Autonomous Surface Ships Code and its potential implications for Defence. The introduction of the Code is not currently assessed to have a material impact on the Royal Navy or the Royal Fleet Auxiliary, but work is ongoing to ensure that both remain compliant with international regulations while maintaining operational effectiveness.
