To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, what assessment she has made of demand for places under the India Young Professionals Scheme; and how many applications were received for each available place in the most recent ballot.

The India Young Professionals Scheme (YPS) permits eligible Indian nationals to enter the UK for a temporary period. The scheme sits within the wider Youth Mobility Scheme (YMS) visa route and immigration rules. The YPS does not operate as its own visa route.
The YPS was introduced into the UK immigration system in February 2023, and users of the scheme can remain in the UK for a 2-year period or make a further application to remain in another route for which they meet the requirements. The YPS permits 3,000 Indian nationals to use the scheme per year. As per published statistics, 2,104 visas were issued in 2023, 2,257 visas were issued in 2024, and 2,448 visas were issued in 2025 on the scheme.
All the UK’s YMS only allow temporary stay and are designed to be reciprocal in nature, therefore are in principle net migration neutral.
Information on switching, overstaying, compliance, balloting and location specific information on activities undertaken by YPS users is not available from published statistics, and the relevant data could only be collated and verified for the purpose of answering this question at disproportionate cost.
