Youth Mobility Scheme: India
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Business and Trade, with reference to the British High Commission New Delhi's press release entitled, UK Trade Secretary in New Delhi to progress next stage of trading relationship, published on 1 June 2026, whether the India Young Professionals Scheme was discussed during his meeting with India's Commerce Minister.
Answered by Chris Bryant
On 2 June 2026, the Department for Business and Trade Secretary of State visited Delhi and met his Indian counterpart, Minister Goyal.
The discussion focused specifically on advancing the UK-India trading relationship, including bringing the UK-India Free Trade Agreement (FTA) into force as soon as possible.
The UK’s immigration policy and the UK-India Young Professional Scheme (YPS) are separate to trade policy and led by the Home Office. They are not part of the UK-India FTA.
