Prison Accommodation
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Justice, what is the full breakdown by prison of the 14,000 prison places due to be delivered by 2031.
Answered by Jake Richards
This Government is delivering 14,000 additional prison places through the Prison Supply Programmes (PSPs) and aims to do so by 2031. The PSPs are delivered through a portfolio approach, with final scope, phasing and site‑level delivery subject to planning decisions, commercial processes and wider programme risks. As we manage down contingency places that were built into the PSPs to safeguard delivery, this information is liable to change.
The below table includes sites already completed as part of the c.3,100 places delivered by this Government. In addition to the projects delivering at the below sites, we are also delivering at other sites across the prison estate through the refurbishment or reconfiguration of individual cells.
