The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Education, how many and what proportion of full-time staff on full pay (1.0 FTE) in the department work compressed hours over a four day week.

The department defines full-time staff on full pay as those with a full-time equivalent (FTE) of 1.0.

As at 31 May 2026, 549 staff employed by the department with an FTE of 1.0 work compressed hours over a four day week. This represents 8.6% of full-time staff on full pay.

A further 624 staff (9.8%) with an FTE of 1.0 work other compressed hours patterns.
