Asked by Mike WoodConservativeCabinet OfficeTabled Answered 16 June 2026UIN 9024

The question

To ask the Minister for the Cabinet Office, pursuant to the answer of 20 May 2026 to Question 210 on Peers, what is the process by which new non-legislative constitutional conventions are established.

Answered by Nick Thomas-Symonds

Conventions form part of our uncodified constitution. They are not static and develop over time to reflect changing circumstances. There is no settled process by which conventions are established.
