To ask the Secretary of State for Education, what data her Department holds on how much time (a) primary and (b) secondary school children are spending on screens during (i) the school day (ii) for homework.

The department’s Technology in Schools Survey 2024/25 presents data on the proportion of lessons in which pupils in primary and secondary schools used end-user devices, including desktop computers, laptops, tablets and smartphones, as well as the use of technology for homework by phase.
To supplement these findings, we have recently launched a call for evidence, inviting expert advice and academic research to better understand pupils’ use of screens in school and how this supports their learning.
