Countryside Stewardship Scheme and Sustainable Farming Incentive

Asked by Greg SmithConservativeDepartment for Environment, Food and Rural AffairsTabled Answered 18 June 2026UIN 9098

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, if she will set out a forward plan for the Sustainable Farming Incentive and Countryside Stewardship Higher Tier scheme offers for 2027 and 2028.

Answered by Stephen Morgan

Defra is committed to bringing greater stability and predictability to the Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI). The department will keep the core offer largely stable for the remainder of this Parliament to help farmers plan ahead.

Defra is not yet in a position to confirm the exact format of future SFI or Countryside Stewardship Higher Tier offers, but further details will be announced in due course.
