Temporary Accommodation: Costs

Asked by Mr Andrew SnowdenConservativeMinistry of Housing, Communities and Local GovernmentTabled Answered 17 June 2026UIN 9121

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, what estimate he has made of the cost to local authorities of providing temporary accommodation in 2025–26.

Answered by Alison McGovern

In 2025/26, temporary accommodation was funded across different funding sources, including the Local Government Financial Settlement and the Homelessness Prevention Grant. Allocations for the Homelessness Prevention Grant for 2025/26 can be found here.

End of year accounting for 2025/26 is ongoing and information about the revenue expenditure of Homelessness including temporary accommodation will be published here later this year on gov.uk here.
