NHS England: Reorganisation

Asked by Dr Al PinkertonLiberal DemocratDepartment of Health and Social CareTabled Answered 23 June 2026UIN 9239

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what steps he is taking to ensure adequate levels of accountability for the potential impact of NHS reorganisation on staff, in the context of abolishing NHS England.

Answered by Karin Smyth

The Joint Executive Team across NHS England and the Department of Health and Social Care are well-placed to consider the impact of the transformation programme on staff in both organisations, which is of course an integral part of maintaining delivery of both organisations’ functions, duties and responsibilities. Impact assessments will be conducted at appropriate points to inform decision making, and regular engagement with trade unions and other representative groups will be maintained.
