Department for Science, Innovation and Technology: Regulation
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Science, Innovation and Technology, with reference to the Regulatory Policy Committee document entitled Post-implementation reviews outstanding across government 2015 to 2026, updated 12 May 2026, what steps her Department is taking to undertake and publish the outstanding Post Implementation Reviews identified.
Answered by Kanishka Narayan
DSIT shares the Regulatory Policy Committee’s commitment to proportionate and effective regulation and recognises the importance of Post Implementation Reviews in supporting that agenda. We have engaged openly with the Committee as part of our commitment to transparency, including discussing the steps taken and the context behind the existing backlog.
The department has taken action to progress outstanding reviews. We have reduced the backlog and expect this to fall further to two by September 2026. In parallel, we have strengthened the tracking and reporting of future obligations to ensure they are delivered ahead of deadlines in good time.
