Democratic Engagement Fund

Asked by Mr Andrew SnowdenConservativeMinistry of Housing, Communities and Local GovernmentTabled Answered 17 June 2026UIN 9444

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, pursuant to the written answer to 7774 of 12th June 2026, whether the Department plans to publish the names of organisations awarded funding through the Democratic Engagement Fund and the amounts awarded to each recipient.

Answered by Samantha Dixon

The Department intends to be transparent in the delivery of the Democratic Engagement Fund. In line with standard government grant practice, details of successful applicants and funding allocations are expected to be published following award decisions in early 2027.

All applicants for the Democratic Engagement Fund must demonstrate that proposed activities are strictly impartial, non-partisan, and focused on supporting democratic participation rather than influencing political outcomes. The published prospectus includes assessment criteria and grant conditions, to ensure funded activity maintains political neutrality and aligns with the Fund’s objectives.
