Youth Guarantee

Asked by James McMurdockIndependentDepartment for Work and PensionsTabled Answered 23 June 2026UIN 9481

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, what assessment he has made of the effectiveness of Jobs Guarantee placements in aligning with the a) skills, b) qualifications and c) career aspirations of participants.

Answered by Andrew Western

The Government will not leave an entire generation of young people behind. The Government is investing an additional £2.5 billion over the next three years into the Youth Guarantee and the Growth and Skills Levy. This investment will support almost one million young people and create up to 500,000 opportunities to earn and learn, including through an expanded network of Youth Hubs, earlier intensive support in Jobcentres through a new Youth Guarantee Gateway, additional work experience and training opportunities, a £3,000 Youth Jobs Grant and £2,000 apprenticeship hiring payment for employers, and the Jobs Guarantee which will provide a fully funded six month job for long-term unemployed 18-24-year-olds.

Jobs Guarantee Delivery Partners will work with participants to understand their skills, qualifications, work history and employment interests, and match them to suitable jobs.

Young people will receive a range of tailored support to help them succeed and transition into sustained employment, including job coaching, role-specific training, mentoring, goal setting and interview preparation.

The department will work with Delivery Partners to monitor delivery, address challenges, and ensure young people are successful, both during the scheme and on completion.
