Integrated Care Boards

Asked by Rachael MaskellLabour (Co-op)Department of Health and Social CareTabled Answered 22 June 2026UIN 9636

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what assessment he has made of the potential impact of combined authority mayors on ICBs.

Answered by Karin Smyth

Subject to its passage through Parliament, the Health Bill will provide for at least one integrated care board (ICB) member to be nominated by the mayor of each mayoral strategic authority in the ICB’s footprint.

As set out in the 10-Year Health Plan, this will support greater alignment and co-ordination between local government and the NHS on strategic planning, including action to address the wider determinants of the health of local communities.
