Integrated Care Boards: Correspondence

Asked by Rachael MaskellLabour (Co-op)Department of Health and Social CareTabled Answered 22 June 2026UIN 9638

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what steps is he taking to improve the response times of ICBs to MP’s enquiries.

Answered by Karin Smyth

Integrated care boards (ICBs) are responsible for managing enquiries from Members of Parliament, including ensuring timely and appropriate responses. We expect ICBs to manage these relationships effectively as part of their wider accountability to local communities.

Where concerns about responses cannot be resolved locally, the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman provides an independent escalation route. NHS England supports ICBs to improve engagement practice, including through communications activity.
