Noise: Pollution Control
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, what steps she has taken to support local authorities in tackling noise nuisance.
Answered by Emma Hardy
The Government is committed to ensuring that noise is managed effectively in order to promote good health and quality of life. The Government considers that the current suite of legislation, which includes the statutory nuisance regime, the Noise Act 1996 and the premises licensing regime, provides local authorities with the necessary powers to deal with problems caused by noise and other nuisance.
