Glyphosate
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, pursuant to the Answer of 10 June 2026 to Question 6962 on Glyphosate, what the expected timetable is for the Health and Safety Executive to have reviewed the renewal for approval of glyphosate.
Answered by Sir Stephen Timms
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is currently undertaking a renewal assessment of the pesticide active substance glyphosate to determine whether it continues to meet the strict approval criteria for use in pesticide products in Great Britain.
As part of this assessment HSE is planning to launch a 60-day public consultation on glyphosate later in 2026. Following the consultation, any decision on the renewal of approval of glyphosate in GB will be taken by the Secretary of State for the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs and relevant Ministers in Scotland and Wales.
