To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what steps her Department is taking to ensure trains are accessible for young families and those with prams.

The Government wants all passengers, including those with young families and those using prams, to be able to travel on the railway in a way that is accessible, convenient, and safe. The Department has engaged with external stakeholders, including the Campaign for Family Friendly Trains, and worked with industry partners to update the Key Train Requirements, which provide guidance to operators when specifying new or refurbishing existing rolling stock. On top of this, and for the first time in over 30 years, the Government is producing a Rolling Stock and Infrastructure Strategy that will ensure trains are more accessible for everyone, placing passenger needs at the heart of new train design.
