Solar Power
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, what assessment his Department has made of potential barriers to growth in the UK solar sector.
Answered by Michael Shanks
We expect growth in the UK solar sector to remain high over the coming years. As set out in our Solar Roadmap, 45-47GW of solar will be required by 2030, up from around 22GW today.
Potential barriers to growth include: uncertainty about grid connection dates for individual projects; global supply chain constraints; and the finite pool of workers with relevant skills.
We work closely with industry to monitor and tackle barriers to deployment, including through our regular Solar Council meetings, chaired by the Minister for Energy.
